We’re looking forward to the 2017 UCTE Fall Conference, to be held on Friday, November 10 at the Jordan Commons Megaplex Conference Center in Sandy. We’re excited to welcome keynote speakers Debbie Dean and Jeff Anderson, both nationally recognized experts on teaching writing and grammar (see below for more information). And, as always, we’ll also have a full slate of teacher-led breakout sessions throughout the day.

2017 Keynote Speakers
Debbie Dean taught junior high and high school in Washington before beginning her work with pre-service teachers at Brigham Young University. She has spent years studying and writing about the best approaches for teaching writing in the classroom, and has published several acclaimed books on the subject, including What Works in Writing Instruction, Strategic Writing, Bringing Grammar to Life, and her most recent book (with Jeff Anderson), Revision Decisions: Talking Through Sentences and Beyond.
For the past 25 years, Jeff has worked with writers and teachers of grades, K-12, inspiring them about the power and joy of the writing process. He is a former classroom teacher who has published four widely recognized books on writing: Mechanically Inclined, Everyday Editing, 10 Things Every Writer Needs to Knowand his latest book (with Debbie Dean) Revision Decisions. Recently, he’s also struck out on a career as a fiction writer and has two middle grade novels, Zack Delacruz: Me and My Big Mouth and Zack Delacruz: Just My Luck.
