The success of our annual conference relies on teachers like you who come prepared to lead invigorating and inspiring breakout sessions. Please consider proposing a session, either alone or with some colleagues, to share your teaching ideas. Here are some ideas (but this is by no means an exhaustive list):

  • How do you teach literature in engaging, meaningful ways? How do you help students become better critical readers?
  • How do you empower students as writers?
  • How do you integrate technology and media in innovative ways?
  • How do you collaborate in productive ways with fellow teachers and/or administrators?

Breakout sessions typically last about 50 minutes, and we encourage all kinds of formats (workshop, panel, interactive presentation). Your proposal should include all contact information for presenters, a brief description of the proposed session, and an outline of how you’ll spend the 45 minutes with participants. If you’d like to review models of proposals submitted in the past that were accepted and led to positively reviewed session at the conference, click these links: [Model 1] [Model 2] [Model 3]

Presenters are eligible for a discounted conference registration. If you have already registered for the conference at the full price and your proposal is accepted, we will refund you (or your school) the difference in the registration fee.
